Shoot first, ask questions later.

I've just read that a new law enacted by yet another of the Bush clan (are they breeding like rabbits over there?) that allows a defense in law for people in Florida to shoot first if they feel threatened. A ready made defense for any hoodlum: "I'm sorry Judge, but I thought the old lady was going to attack me with her walking stick, so I shot her!" I understand that this is probably going to be rolled out across the country.

I'm sure that there will be some restrictions, but it is the psychological aspect of this that worries me. I just feel that this is going to make the problems of guns and the suffering they cause, even worse. People will feel safer carrying the weapons, and quicker to resort to their use. Instead of relaxing laws on guns, they should be tightening up and trying to take guns out of the equation. What is this love affair the Americans have with guns? Anyway, shootfirst.org has more information on this major social advance.

Yes Mark, having just moved from FL.. everyone visiting there should be very afraid! There are NO restrictions to this law, except for police officers. You can't just get pissed at them & shoot them.. but everyone else in the state is fair game!
Every domestic dispute, every angry adolescent, every disgruntled 'postal' worker, every person w/ a chip on their shoulder.. has the right to blow someone away if they even 'perceive' the idea of a threat. Of course this whole law was supported by the NRA.. Bushies buds w/ AK-47s.

Can you imagine how many schizophrenics or other mentally ill individuals will perceive a threat when there is none? And they'll be truthfully frightened. Leave it to the inbreeding of a fat monkey woman & a gimp of a man to give us double doses of idiots, 1 in florida & 1 who runs the insane asylum!
I don't see it becoming a countrywide thing, not at all. I know it will NEVER make it in California. Everybody would be dead for 1 thing. But actually, we're too peaceful of a state to ever go for something like that.

You are so right about us having this love affair with guns. It all started with a misunderstanding of the intention behind "the right to bear arms". I don't understand why someone would want to carry a gun, really. Never could, never will.
Peace.............
